Turkey Tales

Invent imaginative Turkey Tales in a round-robin storytelling circle.

• 1.

  To begin your Turkey Tales, form a group of storytellers. Each person in your group cuts a long turkey feather from colored construction paper with Crayola® Scissors.

• 2.

  Storytellers sit in a circle. Write the first sentence of a story on your tail feathers with Crayola Metallic Colored Pencils.

• 3.

  Pass your feathers around, adding a new sentence to each feather, until all stories are complete. Go around the circle several times for extra feathery fun.

• 4.

  When you are finished, glue the ends of your feathers together with Crayola Glue Sticks. Display stories for classmates to read.

Adaptations

• Early writers might write a round-robin story with a small group. Children write just one story on one feather. An older child or teacher could record their words.
• Older and younger children or children with disabilities can work in teams. One child dictates the story and the older child writes it on a feather.
• Write a creative story about a turkey who escaped a holiday dinner or has other exciting adventures.
